Hindsight is 20/20… probably the most accurate cliche' on the planet.
As I look back over the last 2 years, it’s pretty obvious to me that Audit The Vote really began when I took a constitution class in the fall of 2020. That was the genesis of my current journey and as such, became a big part of my slogan, “Education is key”. I knew I was politically ignorant, but I had no idea how ignorant I was until I sat through Constitution Alive with Rick Green and David Barton… what an eye opener!
Prior to taking the course during the summer of 2020, I was getting into all kinds of political debates on social media, but I quickly realized that for the most part, I didn’t know what the heck I was talking about. During a lengthy but healthy discussion with one of my liberal acquaintances, she brought up the subject of the electoral college and the fact that she thought it was outdated and that the national popular vote was a better strategy for picking a US President. At the time, I had no clue how the electoral college worked or why it was set up the way it was, and therefore I had no sound argument to make on its behalf. For all I knew, she was right.
So what started out as me just wanting to be able to articulate my conservative views to some liberal friends on Facebook would eventually turn into something so much bigger… a statewide movement for election integrity after Pennsylvania botched the 2020 race.
